The Redditor's coworker was smart enough to ask why he was forced to work under these weather conditions and yet he couldn't get paid on time. Employment should always be a two-way street, people, and that applies to every aspect of the professional relationship.
This sounds like a grown-up version of a second grader claiming that his dog ate his homework. This manager also apparently refuses to compensate his employees via direct deposit (red flag alert, especially in this day and age!). Clearly, he was never going to pay his employees on time, and he simply thought he was slick enough to get away with it using the rain as justification… as if precipitation makes it impossible for someone to write a check.
